What does an acupuncturist do?
Acupuncture involves stimulation of specific locations near the surface of the skin, called acupuncture points. The locations of the individual points are very specific and act as gateways to energy pathways connected to the body’s organs. These pathways are called meridians or channels.
In traditional Chinese medicine, any kind of disharmony in the body or mind is considered to be related to either organ dysfunction or blockage of the flow of energy, called Qi, through the meridians.
