New Patients - Welcome to SportsmedNew Zealand’s leading sports medicine and injury rehabilitation clinicOur servicesSportsmed Canterbury is a complete multidisciplinary practice specialising in the treatment of sports and musculoskeletal injuries or conditions and the development of injury prevention programmes. Our services are available to all groups and individuals.
New patientsWhen attending Sportsmed for the first time please download the patient consent form by pressing the icon below. We would appreciate your reading this form and completing this prior to your first visit with us. Please wear appropriate clothing for your treatment including shorts if you have a lower limb injury or loose clothing for a back or upper limb injury. Your podiatrist will also request that you bring in your footwear for them to review or to walk or to run in. Location and hoursSportsmed is conveniently located in Bealey Ave – between Colombo and Manchester Streets. This central city location makes us easily accessible no matter where you live or work. There is plenty of onsite and street parking available for vehicles and also for cycles. Sportsmed is open from 8am – 7pm Monday to Thursday, 8am – 6pm Friday, and 9am – 1pm Saturday. The Saturday clinic is available for general appointments and also pre match taping and acute sports injuries where no booking is required.
Fees and ChargesWhen receiving treatment from us you generally will either be a private paying patient or injured and covered under the ACC scheme. Should you be referred to our clinic then please bring in any appropriate referral forms or ACC documentation. If you have sustained an injury then you can complete ACC paperwork here at Sportsmed before your consultation. Please allow time to do this. Charges vary amongst the disciplines at Sportsmed. With ACC regulations recently changing there is now a surcharge for physiotherapy visits. Please call us should you require details as to charges for your treatment. SportsMed consultation fees vary depending on the discipline providing treatment. A co-payment may apply to ACC funded treatment. If you require treatment of an injury and have not completed an ACC claim please allow yourself time to do so prior to your appointment. If you have had treatment funded by ACC elsewhere we will require details of the claim for our records. Payment methodsPayment by EFTPOS, credit card (including American Express), or cash is expected at the time of consultation. Accounts outstanding at the end of the month incur an administration fee. We would appreciate your paying at the time of each visit. We will accept EFTPOS, Visa and cash as methods for payment. All accounts will incur an administration fee of $5. |
